
Alison Kaneko
Alison is a seasoned nonprofit search professional with experience both as a consultant and as part of an in-house search team. She has experience working across sectors to identify the right leaders to help bring about transformative impact in the social sector with a particular focus on searches that are the first of their kind within an organization or are part of groundbreaking initiatives. Alison leads her searches with humility, intellectual curiosity, and a client-service orientation to attract top talent and fill high-priority roles. She prioritizes close partnerships and facilitates honest collaborations with clients in order to lead organizations into their next phase of scale and increased impact.
Before joining GoodCitizen in 2016, Alison led national operations and full-cycle recruiting for Year Up where she brought an intentional focus to the importance of hiring not just for skills, but for culture and mission as well. Since transitioning her focus to recruiting top talent to lead organizations into their next phase of scale and increased impact, Alison has collaborated with organizations that focus on systems-level change. She is passionate about tackling the most critical issues of our time and understands how to translate core business needs into a compelling opportunity that speaks to the potential influence an individual can have on the sector.
Alison holds a master’s degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University and a bachelor’s degree from California State University East Bay. During her free time, she loves exploring the beauty of the Bay Area with her dog, Puddles, who can’t resist jumping into a good puddle when she sees one!
